A Voodoo (call sign Hamboro) was lost during a reconnaissance mission along Route 50 in North Vietnam. Little is known about the cause or exact location of the incident but the pilot was captured and survived almost seven years of captivity to be released on 12 February 1973. Although born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, James Young’s family moved to England when he was seven years old and he had watched the Battle of Britain take place over London in 1940. |
