| During a night launch of an EA-1F Skyraider (call sign Robinson 779) from the USS Hancock off the coast of North Vietnam the catapult bridle failed and the aircraft ditched in the sea just ahead of the carrier. Unfortunately, the aircraft sank quickly and only two of the three crew survived the ditching. The aircraft was setting out on a jamming mission in support of a naval air strike. |
