| A T-28 was shot down while on its second pass dropping napalm on a target. The two crewmen baled out and were rescued by helicopter. As the refurbished A-1Es were now being delivered the 1st ACS started to retire their T-28s and this was fourteenth and last T-28 lost on operations as the type was largely phased out of USAF service during the first week of July (although two more were lost in November on their way to Thailand). |
