| The forward air controllers were acknowledged as having one of the most enjoyable but one of the most dangerous flying jobs in the in-country war in South Vietnam. The small, low-powered, slow and low-flying aircraft were frequent targets for ground fire. One of the FACs, from a detachment at Dalat, was shot down by ground fire during a mission in support of ground forces in Tuyen Duc Province and both the crew were killed. |
