| Capt Russell had served as a USAF dentist before becoming a pilot and had been a Nail FAC before joining the Ravens. He was known as ‘Doc’ and had spent some of his off duty hours giving free dental treatment to Laotian children. One report suggests that his aircraft was hit by a helicopter as it lifted off. Capt Russell’s body was returned to the USA for burial in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. |
