| The night of the 11th turned out to be a bad night for the Thailand-based Phantom squadrons with the loss of three aircraft and two crews. The first aircraft to be lost was bombing a target in the Mu Gia Pass. The aircraft (call sign Owl 7) was hit by AAA and the crew ejected. Miraculously, both the crew were rescued from this very heavily defended area, Maj Killen by a HH-53B and 1Lt Hoyler by a HH-3E, both from the 40th ARRS from Nakhon Phanom. |
