| A flight of Phantoms was flying a close air support mission near Dong Ha just south of the DMZ when one of the aircraft was shot down. 1Lt Vadyak (call sign Ringneck 8) was pulling up through 5,000 feet after a 20-degree dive on his target when ground fire struck the aircraft’s fuselage. Seconds later the crew were forced to eject but they were later recovered. |
