| A mortar site and associated bunkers near Bo Ho Su in the DMZ buffer zone were the target for a strike by a pair of Phantoms from Da Nang. One of the aircraft (call sign Gunfighter 2) narrowly avoided a collision with the FAC in poor visibility at low altitude while setting up for a run. The aircraft crashed before either of the crew could escape. The possibility exists that small arms fire was involved, but, in the poor visibility, the FAC did not see any enemy fire. |
