| A HH-3E from the 37th ARRS (call sign Jolly Green 29) was despatched to rescue the crew of Dover 01 who had ejected over the sea on the 19th. As the helicopter landed on the water to pick up the Phantom crew it was hit by enemy fire from Tiger Island which blew off a rotor blade and set the HH-3 on fire. The crew and the survivors had to abandon the helicopter and took to life rafts. They were all rescued by two more of Da Nang’s HH-3s. |
