| On the evening of the 10th a Huskie, call sign Pedro 44, took off at Phan Rang with an underslung fire suppression kit to stand by for an emergency landing of a B-57 which had declared an in-flight emergency. As the B-57 touched down the helicopter was seen to make a climbing turn then crash on the airfield killing all five of the crew. The cause of the accident was a failure of the rotor assembly which caused the rotor to disintegrate resulting in complete loss of control. |
