| Forward air control missions were as dangerous as close air support or interdiction. Capt Geiger’s aircraft was probably hit by small arms fire causing it to crash. Both Capt Geiger and his observer, Lt Heip, were killed in the crash, which occurred in Quang Ngai province. This aircraft is listed as belonging to the 6253rd CSG that had been formed at Nha Trang earlier in the month to provide support for the 310th ACS which moved in from Tan Son Nhut the same month. |
