| 1Lt Warren Keith Brown (KIA) |
| About one and a half hours later the 37th TFW lost another aircraft on the same target, sadly the pilot was killed in this incident. 1Lt Brown was also on his second napalm run when he, like Capt Piner before him, ran into a barrage of anti-aircraft fire. The aircraft (call sign Bat 7) was only flying at 200 feet when it was hit and although 1Lt Brown ejected, he was too low for his parachute to deploy fully before he hit the ground and he was killed. The 174th TFS was an Iowa Air National Guard unit and Warren Brown was the first of six Air National Guard airmen to lose their lives during the deployment of the F-100 squadrons to Vietnam. A memorial to 1Lt Brown was erected at Sioux City Airport, home of the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing. |
