Name(s):
Lt(jg) Barry Edwin Karger (KIA)
Lt Karger was on a weather reconnaissance flight along the coast of North Vietnam when he saw and attacked a bridge on the main coastal road, 13 miles south of the Mu Ron Ma peninsula. His wingman saw him roll in on the bridge in a vertical dive. The Skyhawk (call sign Raven 304) started to pull out but then rolled through 180 degrees and dived into the ground. It could not be determined if the aircraft had been hit by ground fire or if Lt Karger had lost control during the dive. Barry Karger’s remains were discovered at the wreck site during a joint US-Vietnamese investigation and positively identified in January 1994.
