| The Enterprise launched four Intruders on a strike mission in poor weather. As one of the aircraft left the catapult it was seen to pitch up and spin into the sea. Both the crew were lost including Cdr Kollman, the CO of VA-35. It was suspected that the aircraft had stalled and spun into the sea after the premature retraction of the flaps. |
