Name(s):
Lt(jg) Robert Charles McMahan (KIA)
Lt McMahan was escorting a photographic reconnaissance aircraft on a mission to Vinh airfield when he was shot down by one of the SAM batteries that protected the air base. The Crusader (call sign Red Flash 402) was flying at 5,000 feet when it was struck by the missile and although an emergency beeper was heard briefly there was no sign of a parachute. It appears that Lt McMahan did not survive the incident as his remains were handed over in September 1990 and formally identified on 29 November 1990.
