| An O-1 Bird Dog (call sign Bart 9) had its engine put out of action by ground fire while on a FAC mission over an island in the mouth of the Mekong Delta, 15 miles east of Soc Trang. Capt Saunders crash-landed his aircraft near the village of Tie Can and he and his observer were rescued by an Army helicopter. |
