| A Steel Tiger mission over southern Laos found North Vietnamese troops out in the open. Maj Armstrong started a bombing run from 9,000 feet but his aircraft (call sign Hobo 3) was hit by automatic weapons fire and burst into flames. He ejected about 12 miles west of Khe Sanh and was rescued by a VNAF H-34 helicopter. |
