The Hanoi thermal power plant was also on the target list again on the 10th. Once again it was one of the CAP flight Crusaders that was brought down during the raid and, remarkably, once again it was flown by Lt Thomas Renwick Hall. The Crusader (call sign Nickel 101) was orbiting at low level near Ha Dong, just a few miles southwest of Hanoi, when the aircraft was hit by AAA. The aircraft lost fuel rapidly and the hydraulics began to fail. Within seconds the engine flamed out from lack of fuel and the pilot ejected about five miles southwest of Hanoi. Lt Hall had been shot down and rescued on a similar mission just four days earlier, but this time his luck ran out and he was captured. Lt Hall had over 100 missions to his credit as he had flown a tour with VF-211 on board the USS Hancock in 1966. Lt Hall was released from imprisonment on 4 March 1973.
